I am painting my room Royal Dream by Dutchboy (Royal Purple) and plan to have a white, pear green, and purple theme with silver finishes. I am planning on getting a white futon cover with green and purple pillows and finding fabric that combines the 2 colors. I LOVE pillows, so do my dogs (don’t worry about white, they don’t get dirty and are all less than 9 pounds). Should I get a white rug, a green rug, or just have beige carpet all around? OR should I go dark with black carpet?

Ok, I live in a apartment and which ever tenant used the washer before me obviously put too much powder detergent in the washer. I washed my futon cover and when I got it out it was covered in light powder detergent residue (I only use liquid detergent so I know its not from me measuring wrong). So far iv been able to get most of the residue off with a damp cloth but was wondering if anything else will help remove it?

Also is there a way to stop this from happening again, most of my cloths are dark and I dont want them to get ruined by someone else not knowing how to measure right. (most everything I have is cotton too if that matters). and are laundry machines are pay per use and you cant select extra rinse or just rinse if you put them through a second time so I would prefer not to have to put them through the wash multiple times.

Also if it matters im currently using the basic Liquid Tide Detergent, I dont use anything else with it.

I have a performa washer, I am not sure how old it is. The washer does fill and will only drain if I place the hose near the floor so the water does not need to be pumped up to be pumped out. The washer does not agitate or spin but there are sounds of the motor running. We recently had some sewer problmes in our basement and I washed a heavy futon cover in the washer to remove the sewage that had soaked it. The washer worked fine prior to doing this. I am worried I may have fried the transmission by washing such a large item. It did not seem to big for the washer at the time. Also, when the washer was spinning out the cover it was severely off balance. That was the last time it worked to spin out. I have since removed and replace the drain hose, (there is no clog there) and I have adjusted the feet so that it is level. Any advice or suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks

I need some help, since I’m really on the decorating short bus. Where do I start redecorating this awful apatrment? I have never cared before–my apartment has always just been "college student modern"–but I’m starting to get Girl Scout moms coming over and I want to do something! I have brown and tan tile on the floor in my living room, and this crazy greenish paneling on about half the wall that might look weird if we painted it (but it might not). I need to come up with a good color scheme for an area rug (or two), a futon cover and pillows (the futon is honey-colored wood), curtains and a paint color for the wall. Any tips on color schemes or a theme? Tips on painting this paneling? Tips on doing all this on the cheap?

I am in college and my roommate and i met this girl during our second semester. we all became really good friends. the next semester, we continued to hang out but my roommate and i started to feel a little smothered by her. By the end of our 3rd semester we couldnt wait to have winter break. But now that 4th semester has come around…she has been VERY clingy, and has been getting on our nerves more than ever.

Things that are driving us crazy:
-She always feels the need to come over after class until like midnight.
-She always wants to do her art projects (shes an art major) in our room. And her doing this has resulted in getting paint on our BRAND NEW futon cover and ottoman.
-She texts us everyday, or gets in touch with us the night before, about lunch AND dinner plans.
-She texts us "what are you guys up 2" as her way of saying "can i come over"
-When she is in our room she will sit on the futon and always ask to get things for her. "can you do me a favor…" "you’re closer, please?"
-She leaves her garbage/unfinished drinks/wrappers in our room.
-She can never go anywhere by herself, or gets pissed if we don’t want to go to walmart with her.
-She will always complain how bored she is when we are busy.

We keep making excuses, some of them not even clever, and she is not getting the hint. I feel like she needs more friends or something, but how do you tell someone that?! Please help! If you have any suggestions at all, or ways of saying "YOU ARE SMOTHERING US!" friendly, please respond.
