My boyfriend is allergic to cats. We bought a futon and didn’t realize the house had cats. I’ve vacuumed it and it’s covered with a brand new sheet. I’ve sprayed with frebreeze as well. every time he lays on it he itches and starts sneezing for a bit. He won’t have to sleep on it so it’s not a huge deal but he has friends and family that are allergic as well. Does anyone have any extremely effective ways of getting this clean? I don’t want to buy a new mattress. We got the futon for cheap so a new mattress wouldn’t be worth it. Let me know any ideas. Thanks.

I mean aren’t they visible to the naked eye? I have a futon and I’ve been getting bites but a friend said they might be spider bites.
Yesterday I took the futon cover off to go wash it (along with all the bedding) and before I left I found a spider on the back board and killed it, but then of course today I woke up with a ton of new bites.
Everyone here is saying that if I have bedbugs I’ll have to throw out the mattress, but this was a 0 futon mattress and i want to make sure that I’ve really got to get rid of it before I do – also, this is my bed, don’t have a separate bed.

My husband is deploying we just have a little over a week to have everything packed and into the storage place that we already paid for, it is not climate controlled. I have kept all the plastic for our furniture. Would it be wise to cover all the furniture with its original plastic? These items are a Bed, Sofa, & Futon Mattress. Any advice or tips? thanks so much!!

My sister and I picked up a futon our neighbors were throwing away (they’re redoing their house) and it’s great… except that the mattress smells like cig.smoke. I took off the cover and washed it twice – it seems to be fine – and the matt. is currently on our porch, practically soaked in Lysol disinfectant spray.
Any tips or tricks as to how to get rid of the smoke smell? Or should I just give up on this one? (And if so… any idea how much a new futon matt. costs?)

I recently received a futon mattress second-hand. The mattress exterior which is polyester/cotton has some staining on it. Although it has a zipper, it seems that the cover cannot be removed for cleaning. I would like to know some ways that it can be cleaned at home. Thanks. Help!
