Or just do a yahoo search titled “the truth about thread count” and you will see that the entire industry is a joke when it comes to thread count. You can only fit about 350 quality fibers per square inch so anything over that is either a lie or they have seriously compromised the integrity of the fabric lowering the quality.

My advice to you is not to buy this type of item online. How would you know what you are getting if you can’t touch and feel the item? Photographs can easily lie. The camera doesn’t always see what the naked eye would see. This is why I rarely buy clothes and shoes online, unless it’s standard sandals or something.

The quality of Linens and Things is pretty true to what they say, or if you buy from one the well established department store websites like Neiman Marcus, or Nordstrom etc.

To keep you cool in the summer you want cotton sheets, just like in your clothing. Egyptian cotton is said to be the best, highest quality. The higher the thread count of the fabric, the softer and less pilling or ‘sandy’ feeling you will get with wear. (That is what I absolutely hate as sheets wear!) This is one case tho where you pay for what you get. The higher the thread count…the higher the cost. Try to get at least 250-300 thread count minimum! I have seen some of the best prices tho at the warehouse clubs.
I am not so much a name brand person in most things. I look mostly at the quality of whatever I am buying vs the cost. I keep at least 2 quality sets of sheets of sheets for each bed in my home. (400-500 thread count) One to be on the bed, and a clean set ready to go. I see no reason for more. Just personal opinion.

First thing I’d say is to buy Seventh Generation or another Earth Friendly Detergent not because I’m pushing the whole Go Green theme *I dont even use those detergents yet until my baby is born* however I’m switching as soon as it is.
I’ve nannied for a few families as a live in and doing their laundry is part of it, and they’ve all had newborns. One family used All Free And Clear because it was the only one that all 6 of them could use without one person being allergic, so that’s a suggestion however,
The family I most recently lived with used Seventh Generation *found at Target* or you can buy other brands online of green friendly detergents and it saved us all a lot of time, because you can throw your things in with the baby’s things, and believe me it will be like a Godsend, when you only need to do one load at the end of the week.
You can wash all of the baby’s clothes prior to wearing them so they are ready I would say that’s a great idea, you dont want your baby having a reaction to the clothes. Wash the clothes and bedding, the rest of the items do not need to be washed prior to use.

Here is a home remedy from across the pond. Beg or borrow a wet vacuum. Use a teaspoon of dish soap mixed with a cup of hydrogen peroxide. Blot the stained area.Use the wet vacuum to remove the solution you just applied. Blot with water and extract again. If the blood hasn’t dried completely this should do it.
